Getting there…
I’ve done nothing but school stuff nearly all week for the last two weeks. I am finally starting to feel like I am nearly ready for the children to come back. I’ve painted, re-organised, sorted, backed my boards and finished two displays, made new cars for my times tables track, printed off a great Victorian’s Timeline from Sparklebox, laminated said timeline, laminated a whole bunch of other things, made and laminated a sign for my door, stuck all the name labels on my trays for resources, and on the trays for the children… plus I’m sure a lot more things that I can’t recall right this very second.
Sometimes I wish I could just make-do, but I’m too proud to have my classroom looking awful. I had two sets of trays waiting for me in this classroom, one for resources, one for the children’s trays. I obviously had to make new labels for the children’s trays, but then I HAD to make new labels for the resources trays because the labels that were already on there were a different size and a different font. Fussy? OCD? Possibly both. I think I need to learn to make the most of what is already there for me and not create more work for myself.
I just love that all my labels match now though! They look great on the trays!
We’ve got INSET on Monday and I’m not sure yet whether that will be time for us to finish sorting our rooms, or whether the head has something planned. My room is pretty much done now, and I’ll be there an hour early on Monday so I will have some time before and after school to finish off if the head does have something planned for us to do.
I’m finally feeling like I will have everything finished in time. It’s a great feeling of relief.
